PAIN-RELIEVING MEDICATIONS "Several drugs can help relieve migraines in some people, " says Andrew Lininger, L.Ac. Stannard. For acute migraines, medications that generally work best are the Triptan class of drugs. Since the introduction of sumatriptan, a number of similar drugs have become available, including rizatriptan Maxalt ; , naratriptan Amerge ; , zolmitriptan Zomig ; , almotriptan Axert ; , frovatriptan Frova ; and eletriptan Relpax ; . These newer agents provide pain relief within two hours in 60 to percent of patients, have fewer side effects, and cause fewer recurring headaches. COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE Both Lininger and Stannard point out that nontraditional therapies can also provide relief for people suffering from chronic headache pain. While not every technique works for everyone, they say, no drug is effective in all cases, either. "If you suffer from migraines, " says Stannard, "it's wise to explore the alternatives to.

Diastolic murmurs associated with the Starr-Edwards mitral prosthesis have not been described previously. In this report, five patients with mitral prostheses are described in whom apical mid-diastolic and presystolic murmurs resulted from two different causes. Three patients had clots obstructing the prosthetic el'fice. The other two had normally functioning prostheses and moderately severe aortic insufficiency. The if mid-diastolic and presystolic murmurs in the presence of a normally functioning prosthetic occurremitral valve demonstrates that 1 ; the mid-diastolic Austin Flint murmur can occur in the absence of incomplete mitral valve opening, premature mitral valve closure, vibrating mitral leaflets, or relative mitral stenosis and 2 ; the presystolic Austin Flint murmur can occur in the absence of incomplete valve opening or presystolic mitral regurgitation. However, the presystolic murmur was associated with early closure movement of the prosthetic poppet and amikacin.
Foods have different amounts of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Your body uses all three of these nutrients for energy. Protein, however, is used for more than energy. Protein is used by your body for growth, maintenance and repair. It is important that you eat enough high quality protein to stay well nourished. However, eating large amounts of protein defined as more than your body can adequately use ; will cause high levels of the protein waste product, blood urea nitrogen, or "BUN." Some proteins are called high quality proteins. Milk, cheese, eggs and meats are examples of foods containing high quality proteins. Beans, peas, lentils, nuts, grains and vegetables contain some protein. The proteins in these foods are considered low quality proteins. Your body does not use these proteins as well as the high quality proteins. The amount of protein you should eat will be determined by your type of kidney disease, your treatment plan and your body weight. A dietitian will give you guidelines for high and low quality protein foods. Carbohydrates and fats provide calories or "fuel" for your body. Calories from carbohydrates and fats are important to keep body tissues from being broken down for energy. Carbohydrates and fats.
