As of 7 June 2006, Boehringer Ingelheim has received 14 reports of ICH, eight of which were fatal, in 6840 patients with HIV-1 infection receiving tipranavir Aptivus ; in clinical trials. Boehringer Ingelheim is revising the product monograph to include information on ICH risk, platelet aggregation inhibition findings from in vitro studies and changes in coagulation parameters observed in preclinical animal studies. A new paragraph will be added to the boxed warning for tipranavir Aptivus ; , stating that the drug has been associated with fatal and nonfatal ICH when coadministered with ritonavir 200 mg. The insert will advise health-care professionals to use caution when prescribing tipranavir ritonavir for patients who may have an increased risk of haemorrhage or are receiving drugs with a known increased risk of haemorrhage, and to inform patients of the ICH reports associated with the combination. Villa This study tested the hypothesis that oestrogen deficiency affects the mechanical sensitivity of bone by activating re ; modelling drifts aimed to adapt structural and material properties of bone to the new mechanical environment. Since mechanical environment of bone is not strictly dependent upon large, peak strain magnitudes, this study has applied strains of low magnitude that occur in bone at high frequency, and that can be reproduced by vibration under specific experimental conditions. Ovariectomized rats OVX ; and paired sham controls were subjected to total body vibration for 8 weeks under 2 vibrations regimens 0.6 g and 3 g; 30 Hz ; The results demonstrated that low levels of oestrogen sensitize bone to the mechanical overload: increased bone size and enhancements of polar moment of inertia and moment of resistance of cortical area were observed in the appendicular skeleton of OVX by quantitative microtomografic assessment pQCT ; . It was concluded that low levels of oestrogen affects bone sensitivity to the omnipresent, low amplitude signals inherent in muscle contraction, that challenge bone during predominant activities such as standing.
